| Salt Creek Ranch, owned by Rickey Smith Ranches Ltd., is located eight miles east of Memphis, Texas on highway 256. The family owned and operated ranch has been involved in various segments of the cattle industry for over twenty five years. In recent years a herd of registered Angus has been developed, based primarily on cows purchased from Hoff Scotch Cap Angus Ranch in South Dakota.
Salt Creek Ranch submittled the first DNA samples to Bovigen for analysis May of 2007, and the results have been impressive, with Salt Creek Bob 7003 leading the scores. In March of 2008, a full sister to 7003 was born who also scored seven Quality stars. As of June 2008, Salt Creek Ranch remains the only breeder of seven Quality star Angus in the USA. We also have a new bull calf who has scored nineteen stars, the top score in the Angus breed.
